Your Friday Smile!

Norm, an old retired sailor, puts on his old uniform and heads for the docks once more, for old times sake. He engages a prostitute and takes her up to a room. He's soon going at it as well as he can for a guy his age, but needing some reassurance, he asks, 'How am I doing?'
The prostitute replies, 'Well Norm, old sailor, you're doing about three knots.' 'Three knots?' he asks. ' What's that supposed to mean?'
She says, 'You're knot hard, you're knot in, and you're knot getting your money back.'

Life's a BITCH. 'Cause if it was a SLUT, it's be EASY!

Went to visit my mom. She’s going through a rough patch. When we arrived her beau was sleeping. She woke him and he made his way to the dinning room. The poor man... It broke my heart to see him like this. He’s lost so much weight, and above all, he’s yellow. Completely yellow. What do you say to someone, who’s yellow from head to toe, so frail that he can barely stand on his own, that he’s looking well? I don’t think so. I said: “you looked tan”. Yeah, talk about foot-in-mouth moment. It made him laugh, at least.

I went there with the idea to talk to him, to thank him for having been there and caring for my mother for the last nine years. Within five minutes with us, he made his way to the bathroom and once he came out he went back to bed.

It’s sad to see, and even sadder when I hear him say things like “once I get better”… he won’t… My mother knows it, we know it, and he does to but somehow hope is still present. We all know we’re dying, each day we live is a day closer to our death, but we don’t know how close the end is. He knows. He’s a good man, and I hate to see him suffer… Mrs. D. is doing more than just lurking, she has a good foot in the door, and I can only anticipate some hard times ahead for my mother.

Being an only child sucks at times like these, no one to spread the load with.

Food Surrender 11

Can you believe that I still received another box today? I can't! I'm about to be on a first name basis with our mail man... that's how often I've been seeing him lately.

Today's parcel came from the other side of the pond, yep, that would be the UK, way over there... It's Purple Pigeon's contribution to my, slow but very certain, death by overdose of chocolate ans sweets. What a way to go!

Look at all the stuff the purply bird sent me!

Unreal!!! Between chips (or crisps as they are called over "there"), lots of chocolates and candies, I feel like I've stolen the bag of a child at Halloween... I almost feel guilty, but then again, nah! This is way too much fun to feel anything but excitement!

Thank you, you crazy bird! You really went overboard, you are too generous for your own good!
Thanks for partaking in this sweet folie of mine! I'm hoping you'll get your box soon!

Mrs D. is lurking

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been introduced to Mrs. D.* at a pretty young age. The first time I remember meeting her, I was maybe 5 years old. My parents had brought me along on a visit. That was my first of many encounters.

Maybe it is due to my father’s fascination with this lady, but I’ve always been intrigued by her. I’m curious, and yet not enough for me to try to set up a meeting to meet her one on one. I respect her, and enjoy this distance between us. I know she’s around and that’s plenty for me.

The past few weeks, I know she’s been lurking. I’m aware of her presence, I can almost feel her. True, we do talk about her a lot. What other choice do we have, really? We know she’s here, waiting like a vampire almost, to be invited in our lives. We’ve been trying to keep her at bay, but we all know that eventually, no matter how much we resist, we will have to let her in. It doesn’t mean that we have to welcome her, but in a way I know we will be relieved to see her. All apprehension and concerns will be dealt with, once we know she’s in.

Isn’t it strange, how, no matter how much we try to ignore her, or move away from her, she always manages to find us? We really can’t hide from her. For that alone she deserves to be treated with the utmost respect.

For what it’s worth, I’m going to address her directly:

Dear Mrs. D.,

You are one popular lady. Everyone I know has met you at some point in time. I wish I could say that people like you, but it would be a lie. You are not liked. You are feared, really. I wish we could see your good sides, but at times it feels like you don’t really have that many. You are known for your undiscriminating manners and for your lack of pity. Some say you’re cold and heartless. I would tend to agree with them. I do know you serve a great purpose, but at times I hate to think what lesson you have in store for me. Even if I do know that you are part of our lives, it doesn’t make it easier for any of us to accept your presence. Despite my best effort to befriend you, I’m realising that it is useless, since you darn well do as you please. You are one cold bitch, there’s no doubt about that! I wish there was a way to get rid of you, but there isn’t. You are here to stay. I know that. It doesn’t make your upcoming visit any easier. I know I don’t want to see you again. You’ve hurt me in the past, and even if I know that I’ll be seeing more and more of you, it doesn’t make it feel right or better in any way, quite the contrary. I hate knowing you’re waiting around the corner. I wish I could believe that things will be better after your visit, but they rarely are. Not at first anyway. It sucks. It really does and I sure hope this visit will be your last one for a long while, at least.

Sincerely wishing you’d stop lurking,

Stinkypaw =^..^=

Nothing much

Can you believe that we’re already starting the last week of August? I can’t believe it myself. Where did the summer go? We had a good weekend. We took it easy, had dinner with some friends on Saturday, took it easy as well on Sunday, did the minimum required i.e. a bit of laundry and some errands. It felt good to be home and enjoying each other’s company. I love spending time with my husband.

Today, I started my day with going for a nice massage. I felt like a needed one, so I booked one and made my way there. Ninety minutes of pain, but oh, so worth it. I say pain, because the therapist I’m seeing is very “deep-tissue”. Personally that’s the type I love. I have a husband for caresses, I want those muscles to be shaken up and she did just that! My shoulders feel so relaxed.

At the moment, our home smells delicious. Why you may ask? There’s a bit pot of blueberry-apple butter softly boiling on our stove. Last week, I had bought a little basket of apples, from here, so instead of wasting them I decided to make some “jam” with them. I don’t eat apples too much; their acidity affects my gums. Since I have lots of wild blueberries (that my mother hand picked) frozen, it was the prefect combo. There’s no better smell combination, really, than cinnamon and nutmeg. And with apples… yummy!

Hope your weekend was good as well & your week even better! Tata!

Food Surrender 10

This came in today, it's from Preppygirl.

Look at these rolls! Yummy!!
I so remember biting the tip off those wax bottles and having wax stuck in between my teeth... The bag of little red fishes looks interesting, a swedish treat! I didn't know Preppygirl is 1/4 Swed, the things I'm learning through this Food Exchange!!

Thank you PG for the goodies, I'll let you know how my "tastings" went. Thank you again for wanting to participate and sharing some childhood memories... that's always fun!

Your Friday Smile!

One day, while going to the store, I passed by a nursing home. On the front lawn were six old ladies lying naked on the grass.

I thought this was a bit unusual, but continued on my way to the store.

On my return trip, I passed the same nursing home with the same six old ladies lying naked on the lawn.

This time my curiosity got the best of me, so I went inside to talk to the Nursing Home Administrator.

'Do you know there are six ladies lying naked on your front lawn?' I asked

'Yes,' she said, 'They're retired prostitutes, - they're having a yard sale.

I’ve realised recently, even if I did know it deep down, that my need to be liked was bigger than I thought it was. I’ve been called bitch, cold, hard, etc. I know all that, and I accept it. I also decided that I didn’t really want to change. I know how I truly am. And that is what matters. Yes I do want people to like me, but I’m not willing to compromise my values, my beliefs to get that. It’s weird because I’m not looking for approval. At the same time wanting to be liked is a form of approval.

Monkey’s questions:

Is it hard to write in English since French is your first language? I actually find it easier, since I do think in English. At home we mostly speak English, and I'm also realising that I'm losing my French. I often look for words, and my French grammar is getting to be bad.

How much national support does the party who thinks Quebec should break-off have? What do you think? (I do not know how to spell the party name- and I do not want to embarrass myself) Even if I'm French-Canadian, I've never felt the need to join "Le Parti Québécois" I like being Canadian. It actually saddens me when I hear or read some Québécois talk. Their French is really bad, they can't write properly and they say they want to preserve our heritage. Sad thing really. I have my doubts that we will separate, but if we do, I will move. I don't really believe in all this nationalism even if I"m proud to be French-Canadian.

Your IQ Score is 125, that indicates your intelligence is Gifted Borderline Genius. I didn't say that, that's the result of this test I did here.

Was that random enough? One thing for sure, my desktop is now a lot cleaner! Yay!

Food Surrender 8 and 9

You read correctly, I received two today. The first one the mailman handed me was Annake’s – look at these, straight out from my memory box!!

It’s been ages since I’ve had candy buttons. Remember how we used to also always get a little piece of paper with them? Or was that just me, but I doubt that very much? Can you believe that I’ve never really had Mentos before? I didn’t know they made Chewy Sweet Tarts, I just love those. I presently have a roll (ok, half roll) on my desk, but the traditional ones. I must say when I saw that bag of Pixy Stix my heart skipped a beat. Honestly, it’s been ages since I’ve had one of those!

The other parcel was from Australia, from Cinnamon Girl. This one was truly all surprises; I don’t know ANY of the goodies she sent. I’m loving it!

Between the tea and the spices (which I’ve never heard of before, like Kut jera Powder), and delicious melt on your mouth mint candies, and yummy dark chocolate, she also sent a “Snack Bar” for Mousse (Hubby’s cousin who comments on occasion). Looking at it, I know it’s not the same “Snack Bar” we used to have here, but hers looks interesting… Who would have thought of creating one chocolate bar with six different flavours? The Australians, of course!! I’ve already eaten two Red Skins; those things are yummy! I must confess that I had to ask Cinnamon what the Wizz Fizz were, since it doesn’t say anywhere how if should be eaten… Maybe it’s something to had to water… I want to be sure! If I were still a kid I would not care at all and would just rip it open.

Thank you both, ladies, for your generosity and willingness to partake in this trade. I hope you’re enjoying it as much as I am!

I have this growing sensation that I might ("might" being the key word here!) have to share some of these candies, but for now, they are mine!!! All mine! Mwahahaha…

Psycho Profile

I doubt that this will tell you something more about me, but since Tracey Treasure tagged me for this meme, I figured I would oblige.

It may not show my true psycho colours, but then again… what do I know! Just reading the selection, I’m confused. Being Canadian we don’t use, nor spell the same words as our friends south of us, and just so you know, I have a pretty twisted mind, or so I’m told, but I don’t really think so.

1---Soda v. Pop. You see, that’s confusing to me since I think of both as the same i.e. “a soft drink”, BUT it could also be that a soda is more “saltier” and a pop sweeter… My pick would have to be a Soda.

2---Regular v. Diet Soda. I think I would pick a regular.

3---Diet Coke v. Diet Pepsi. For this, I know I would choose the Diet Coke.

4---Beer v. Wine. Oh that’s a tough one, since I don’t drink, but I would rather have a cold beer than a glass of wine any day. Especially on a hot day.

5---White Wine v. Red Wine. I would pick neither really. I use to enjoy a glass of rosé here and there, but that was before the menopause from hell. Since I have to pick, I'll go white.

6---Panty v. Underwear. See, another thing that I think are the same thing! Are they? Anyway, I pick Panty before I prefer the word!

7---Thong v. Other. Other for sure. I’m not a thong fan at all despite how comfy they’re supposed to be. Yeah right!

8---Silk v. Cotton. Cotton of course, call me simple!

9---Boxers v. Briefs. For me boxers, for him briefs!

10---McDonald's v. Burger King. It’s been so long since I’ve had either of these… but I would have to say McDo… a good old Big Mac!

11---Chocolate v. Vanilla. Chocolate all the way!

12---Sweet v. Savory. Hum… I guess I have to go with sweet, especially the past two weeks!

13---Plaid v. Solids. Depending on what, but solids seems to be more me.

14--- Flats v. Heels. Flats baby! I have a few “come f*ck me pumps” and love them, but not to wear regularly, just for the special outings or "moments"...

15---Automatic v. Stick Shift. Automatic for sure. I like the feel of the stick but tend to stress a little, so automatic is better for me.

16---Black v. White. No preference really, but let’s go black, because you never go back!

17---Cursive v. Printing. Cursive, but I’m a lot more readable when I use printing. You can see my mood for sure when I write cursive.

18---Length v. Girth. A good combo of both is truly the best, but otherwise I’d have to say that yes length does matter!

19---Butter v. Margarine. Butter for sure! So much tastier!

20---Paula Dean v. Rachel Ray. Neither but maybe Rachel on a very low dose…

I'm supposed to pick another 4 bloggers, so I pick you, you, you over there and yes, you! Enjoy! Just let me know when you've done it, ok so I can go and see how much of a psycho you really are.

Here's what you're supposed to do:

Copy and paste and pick between the following. (Sarcasm is recommended). Then pick 4 other bloggers needing a psychological profile.

1---Soda v. Pop.
2---Regular v. Diet Soda.
3---Diet Coke v. Diet Pepsi.
4---Beer v. Wine.
5---White Wine v. Red Wine.
6---Panty v. Underwear.
7---Thong v. Other.
8---Silk v. Cotton.
9---Boxers v. Briefs.
10---McDonald's v. Burger King.
11---Chocolate v. Vanilla.
12---Sweet v. Savory.
13---Plaid v. Solids.
14--- Flats v. Heels.
15---Automatic v. Stick Shift.
16---Black v. White.
17---Cursive v. Printing.
18---Length v. Girth.
19---Butter v. Margarine.
20---Paula Dean v. Rachel Ray.

Yet another week

I wanted to write about the wonderful, lazy weekend we’ve had, but now I’m not so sure…

I spoke with my mother earlier, for the third time this week; we normally speak once a week. Her beau isn’t doing well. Two years ago he had some serious health issues when his kidneys shot down. Since then he’s been going to dialysis three times a week. My mother lives one hour away from Montréal, and we don’t see each other that often. Why? No particular reason really other that we both have lives, and are both living them. Since we don’t see them everyday we notice changes more. The last times we’ve seen them we thought that her beau had aged a lot, he seemed weak and had loss weight. After his dialysis last Tuesday they kept him in. They wanted to run some tests. They did, the final results are not in, but it doesn’t look good. He’s older than my mother, and last time they came over, he told Hubby that if it were up to him alone he would have given up… He was still here because of my mother.

He was allowed to go home for the weekend. They talked openly about his situation and he decided that if he’s diagnosed with cancer he will refuse all treatments and he also wants to stop his dialysis. During their conversation he told my mother the exact same phrase my father had told her before he committed suicide: “It’s hard to leave behind someone you love…”

She feels abandoned, like anyone facing death; frustrated with God for not answering her prayers; scared to be alone, and sad to see him sick and suffering. While we were talking I told her, just like I had for my father, it might be time for her to let him go. It's not easy to hear your mother in tears, no matter how old you are.

He’s a good man and doesn’t deserve to die in pain. I’m sorry for both of them. They’ve had a good nine years together, and I truly hope he won’t suffer. At times, it does feel like no matter what, shit will be coming our way no matter how much we try to avoid it...

Your Friday Smile!

Only a Newfoundlander can make you feel like a REAL woman!!!

A plane passed through a severe storm. The turbulence was awful, and things went from bad to worse when one wing was struck by lightning.

One woman lost it completely. She stood up in the front of the plane and screamed, 'I'm too young to die'.

Then she yelled, 'If I'm going to die, I want my last minutes on earth to be memorable! Is there anyone on this plane who can make me feel like a WOMAN?' For a moment, there was silence. Everyone stared at the desperate woman in the front of the plane.

Then a man from Newfoundland stood up in the rear of the plane. He was handsome, tall, well built, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Slowly, he started to walk up the aisle, unbuttoning his shirt as he went, one button at a time. No one moved as he removed his shirt. Muscles rippled across his chest.

She gasped...

Then, he spoke, 'Iron this -- and then get me a beer.'

Happy Friday everyone!

Food Surrender Part 7

The mail man rang the doorbell this time, (he even made a comment about it... I think he heard about my complaint...good!) and presented me this big box, it was from outerspace, well yeah, it came from Brave Astronaut!

I'm starting to regret this idea of mine... seriously! Why you may ask? Because this is TOO much!!

Look at this, it's unreal!

Despite being overwhelmed, I'm also very excited to see all those goodies! Chocolate giver that is what BA is! I can't believe they now make M & M mint! Who knew! And those tins with the hard candies, 'loving them! This is so much fun! I've been feeling very good the past few weeks, it must be related to me receiving presents ever other day or so! This is so much fun, you guys should try it too! Trust me, it's worth the sugar high!

A BIG thank you to Brave Astronaut, you rock and now more than ever, chocolate fondue seems feasible! ;-)

Thank you for being such a good and generous sport and I'll let you know how my tasting go.

P.S. I had the "Chick-O-Stick" from Liz, on the drive back from a client today, and despite its looks, it was actually quite good! Thanks Liz!

Now I remember...

...why I haven't eaten Kraft Dinner (as we know it here) or Macaroni & Cheese (as you in the States)! This is what I made myself for lunch!

Since I received a box from Monkey, it was my duty to eat it. I did. It had been years since I had... Let's just say, no matter what side of the border you are or how you call it, it's the same shit everywhere!

That's one thing that I remembered just as it was or is and most likely will remain!

Now if you'll excuse me I'm feeling a little full... this stuff could be use to plug up holes in the wall I'm sure...

Cheers to Good Friends!

The fact that we got married in Hawaii complicated things a little, not everybody was willing to go that far, even if they were notified nine months prior to the event. Despite all that, we did manage to have a reception with over 40 people.

When we decided to get married, Hubby asked a good friend of his to be his best man and I asked his girlfriend to be my matron of honour. They both accepted. Only them and my mother made the trip especially for the wedding, the rest of our guests were there for a karate seminar (we combined attending the seminar and getting married in Hawaii) or local friends.

They took their role very seriously. They respected our wishes of not wanting individual stags, but a party with friends. That was such a fun evening; games, good food and friends, what more can we asked for? They gave up their yearly cycling tour to attend our wedding, which was a big thing since we knew how much they loved that tour. They took us out on our last night “being single” in Waikiki, and were very helpful in Hawaii and in Montreal for our second reception, where more than 100 people attended. They were and still are good friends.

Last night we had a good dinner with them. They took us out for our anniversary. They’ve been doing this since our wedding, every year.

They also give us an anniversary gift:

The first year, the paper anniversary: a nice gift certificate for a weekend getaway.

The second year, the cotton anniversary: a gorgeous love throw.

The third year, the leather anniversary: a unique mirror framed in leather.

The fourth, the flowers anniversary: a beautiful vase with flowers.

The firth year, the wood anniversary: a cute couple of wooden cats about 2’ tall.

The sixth year, the iron anniversary: a beautiful wind chime.

The seventh year, the copper anniversary: a beautiful copper fondue set.

And this year, the pottery anniversary: a lovely kitties couple.

Remember last year I had done a post about all the cats in our house? It dawn on me last night that a lot of those I didn’t buy myself, they were gifts!

Through the years she became an even better friend, someone I can trust and count on. We don't see them much in the summer because they are always on their boat every free moments they have, and I just don't do boats... I feel sick just looking at them. I'm happy they are part of our lives. With friends like them who needs relatives!

Food Surrender Part 6

Got another box today! This one came from Monkey. Check this out, that’s too much!

I’m feeling overwhelmed over here… look at all these goodies!
I won’t be buying chocolate for a loooooong while, that’s for sure, at least I hope not!

I’ve never seen nor heard of “Candy Raisins”, those intrigue me, and yet, that’s a mighty big bag… I’ve never had a “Take 5” either, and that just perfect “mouth size”, yay! And “Milky Way” also something to discover… and “Fruit Stripe”… Geez, don’t know where to start!

BIG thank you to the Naughty Monkey – you are quite naughty for sending all of this, but it’s so much fun how can I can be anything but high on sugar thankful! You’re a great blend and thank you for playing along! Now if you’ll excuse me, I have things to taste…

Eight Happy Years Married!

Here's to another eight!
luv 'ya!

Gluttony

Today was a day of debauchery. It started last night, post dinner and continued on… I’m no longer a Twinkie, nor Combos’ virgin. I ate* my pack of Twinkie, which reminded me a lot of what we have here called “Croquette”, and enjoyed my pack of Combos. Those things could easily become addictive.
Later in the afternoon I finished my box of Milk Duds. I know, I’m bad. What can I say I’m a junk funk addict, among other things? I look at all those snacks on our table and can’t seem to help my sugar level to rise. It’s nuts! But it’s also good! ;-)

We did sweet nothing this weekend (even in my writing “sweets” come up, hee). We watched the Olympics a little, watched a movie last night, then finished watching season 5 of “Nip/Tuck”. September will be a heck of a month TV wise, with “House”, “Dexter”, “Nip/Tuck”, “Heroes”, “ER”, “Prison Break” and even “24” – hell I tell you! We won’t be able to watch everything, that much I know. I played around Kaceboof for a while and even reconnected with a cousin of my mom… Ah the good side of technology! Today I didn’t step outside once; I don’t think I even looked out. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day!

* Corrected, no h, sorry... thanks Princess!

Food Surrender Part 3, 4 & 5

As I wrote Thursday, I had received 3 notices, so this afternoon we made our way to the post office to pick up those three parcels. I think I mght have been more excited to see who they were from than what they contained, but once home I had to open them!

While Hubby was assembling the console we had ordered last week, for the dinning room, I opened my boxes.

The first one was from Princess Slea.

I opened hers first because she had mentioned that she had put some frozen pack inside of it, hoping it would get here in one piece. I was happily surprised when I saw the postcard and nice card showing their town square and even more so when I saw the fudge! I love fudge, no matter what colour (for future reference. Hee. )! I quickly put it in the fridge, and thanked my good fortune for not having a sweet loving husband!

I will let you know how much I enjoyed both the fudge and the chocolates.

Then I opened Marius' box. Check this out, Twinkies! I've never had Twinkies before! I've heard of them in many TV shows, and movies, but this will be my first taste ever! Could this be the beginning of the end for me? Maybe it's a good thing we don't have those here!

When I saw that bottle of Key Lime Juice I thought this must have been his wife's contribution (right, Marius?). There's a recipe on the bottle, so I will have to make one of my favorite "Key Lime Pie" with actual Key Lime Juice! Yay! When I do make the pie, I'll post about it (my way of sharing it with you guys).

And finally I opened Periwinkle's box. I don't think that using tortilla chips as packing material was such a great idea... let's just say we won't be able to use them for dip, but I'll mangle something for a casserole recipe or something like that.

Check this out; she sent everything to make tacos (except the meat, of course)! We don’t really have good Mexican food in Montreal, so this is just great! Looking at these post cards from Arizona reaffirms my wanting to go explore that part of the States. Hubby spotted the hot sauce. That he will taste for sure!

This is so much fun! This is like Christmas in August! Thank you so much (Princess, Marius and Periwinkle) for participating in this trade and for your generosity. Blogging is bringing me more than just an escape or a place to vent, it’s bringing me to discover new things, new taste sensation and especially new friends!

Your Friday Smile!

If you ever come hiking this way, you should know your bears... especially since there has been a lot of Bear-Sighting these past few days in the Vancouver area.

***

This is scary for anyone who travels frequently by plane! Actual crack in a US Airways DC-9 window frame! Fliers beware of the sub standard maintenance on the airplanes that you fly on.
This is an actual crack that was found in the window frame on a DC-9.

I'll definitely think twice before flying USAir.

Had to make you laugh today, it's Friday afterall!
Have a great weekend!

Food Surrender Part 2

As I left to get my haircut at 12:30, I saw there was three delivery notices in our mailbox. On the cards it was written that there was no answer at 10:30, but I was home! This wasn’t the first time the mailman did that. When I received Tammie’s parcel last week, the mailman rang the doorbell and from the time I made it to the door he was already back in his truck. I had to yell at him, almost running up to him, that I was there for him to come back with the box. This morning he didn’t even ring the bell. I was fuming! Those three cards indicates parcels in my name, thus goodies came in!

Within minutes of my return home, the doorbell rang and it was a UPS delivery. Since he rang I answered, funny how that worked out well. It was Liz’s box that came in!

Look at all those goodies! Yummy! I’ve already had the little pecan pie, which was deliciously sweet! I’ve reached my sugar quota for the day I think, with that pie alone! This is so much fun!

Thank you Liz for your generous contribution. Besides the Pop Rocks and the candy wafers I don't know any of these! I've seen Altoids before but never had some. This will be fun!

I'm feeling so excited! Hmmm, 'wonder if it’s excitement from getting these surprise packages or from all the sugar I’ve been eating… what do you think?

Today was a good day!

Despite the crappy weather we’ve been having, rain, rain, rain and some more rain, today felt good! Like I told a man complaining about the weather: at least it’s not snow! Can you believe that Turcot Yard where they dumped a LOT of snow this past winter (Check out this link to give you an idea of the pile of snow that was there) is finally free of snow? I drove by today and saw all the crap left behind, but no snow. Last week there was still some piles here and there… See, rain is good for something other than grass!

All my packages, except one, (because Mr. hasn’t sent me his address yet) have been shipped out. The lady at the post office thought it was an interesting idea to exchange snacks like that. I think so too! I’m happy to see that some of you (two, so far) have received your parcel and are enjoying the Canadian goodies.

Last night I had my first taste of “Milk Duds” – tasty little buggers!

As I was leaving home this morning, I saw something “interesting”, a real boneheaded move! I was waiting at the intersection of our street and a one-way boulevard. Our street is two ways. This blue mini-van pulled up behind me, I was waiting to turn left onto the boulevard. Then I saw the mini-van moved next to me (because he wasn’t behind me anymore). I was thinking he was going straight on our street. WRONG! He decided to turn right on the boulevard, facing traffic that was coming fairly fast, despite the red light. The sound of brakes and honking I’ve heard while I turned made me jumped in my seat. I wonder what the heck he was thinking… or didn’t?

On my way back home, instead of being stuck in traffic I drove by Hubbby's office, so I gave him a call and picked him up for a lunch-date! It had been a while since we went out for lunch, during the week, just the two of us. We went to Momesso and had their spicy pizza sausage. That was delicious! Even better than that since I got to have lunch with my favorite husband and enjoyed a nice cappucino to cap it off.

Tonight, Hubby and I walked to see the Fireworks Finale. What a show! There was a lot of people as well. Beautiful colours and nice effects, it was worth a finale for an International Competition! What a nice way to end it all! Yep, today was a good day...

Tag, I'm it!

I’ve been tagged by TraceyTreasure to a do a meme. It’s been a while since I’ve done one so why not!

“Four things you should know about me before you invite me to your house.”

  1. Despite what you may think I am shy. I tend to be quiet in crowds and I’ll stick around people I do know. Once I feel comfortable enough I mingle and do the social thing, but at first, I tend to melt with the wallpaper… So don’t be surprise if I’m not really as you thought I might be.

  2. I will bring you a little gift, to thank you for the invitation. I like doing that. Chances are it will be something I’ve made, like jam, jelly, salsa or even a dessert. And a bottle of wine, of course, if Hubby is with me!

  3. I don’t really drink alcohol. I’m a real water drinker. I know, boring. Doesn’t mean I can’t have fun! I will get up and dance, I will sing along if needed, but I’m sober while doing it, that’s all! Yes I’ll be the designated driver and the one who does remember what truly happened… yep, that’s me. So make sure you’ll have water and cold soft drinks for me, please.

  4. I cannot sit there and watch you do all the work, so I will offer to help. I won’t insist, but I will ask. If you say no I’ll respect that. I’ve been known, at the end of a meal, to pick up and start cleaning. I help where I can and where it’s welcome. You might even notice that I won’t go through your cupboards to put stuff away. I hate it when people do that, so I’ll either ask you where it goes or I’ll leave everything on the counter. I respect people’s privacy, even in the kitchen!
Because I haven’t played tag in so long, I’m tagging: Flurrious, Marius, Periwinkle, PinkPiddyPaws

Nice & Expensive!

Ever had a weekend when you think you’ll be busy, running around, and won’t have much time for yourself? That’s how our weekend was looking on Friday evening.

Saturday we were having a cousin of mine over for dinner. In the morning Hubby went for his haircut, while I remained in bed, sound asleep. When he came home he made sure to wake me up reminding me that my cousin was coming early. I got up, prepared the meat to be marinated, got dressed and went grocery shopping. After we were done, we walked to a bike store looking for a tool. We came out of there with two cycling jerseys and socks, but no tool. We then had a bite to eat at a little café and slowly made our way home. I prepared the veggies, did a load of laundry and dusted a little. Cousin showed up early. She was here before 5pm. As I was bending down to pick the garbage bag, my back got jammed, again! There I was, hardly able to breath, stuck. I lay down on the sofa, and Hubby set me up for icing, after which he showed our place to my cousin, since it was her first visit. I popped some muscle relaxant and managed to finish preparing dinner with Hubby’s help. We had a nice dinner that we ended with delicious Irish Coffees that Hubby makes so well. Since we could hear the fireworks, cousin asked about it and the two of us made our way to see them. It was China’s turn. They weren’t that great looking but they were very loud. We walked back home, continued chatting and she left at 1 am, after which I went straight to bed.

This morning our only plans were to meet friends for Dim Sum in Chinatown and then go pick up some shoes for me. We walked to the restaurant, had a nice meal, caught up with our friends, and walked back home. We then decided to go to Laval and see if those shoes I had asked to be transferred from another store, would actually fit me. They did. I love Merrell shoes. They are not the dainty type, but for city walking, they are perfect. I just love them!

The last few weeks have been expensive ones, lots of expenses. The previous weekend, we ordered a Murphy bed, for our room downstair. We have friends from Zurich coming in October and didn’t want them sleeping on the floor on an air mattress, so… After many deliberations and change of plans, we finally ordered one. It’s going to be gorgeous, with lots of storing and will totally change the look of that room. I can hardly wait!

When I asked Hubby today, on our way home, if he’d mind going by St-Denis St. just "to see", he gave me a funny look (as he often does anyway!), but he did anyway. There is a home decoration shop where we had seen some nice stuff in the past where we could just lurk around, for something to find… Well… we did!

We managed to finally find our bathroom fixture. We’ve only been here for a year! ;-) I can hardly believe that it's already installed. In the past, it would have ended up in the garage and sat there for a while, a long while before Hubby would actually think of installing it. There is a good side to be space confine!

As we’re walking around Hubby saw this little table and said: “Now, this I like!” He never says things like that. He’s always lukewarm when it comes to furniture and such. Since I’ve wanted a little end table next to my chair, and since I liked it as well, we bought it! Just like that! And we even ordered another piece of furniture! We were on a roll, on an expensive roll that is!

If only we could generate money as easily as we generate snot, we’d be rich!

Your Friday Smile!

Stupid people should have to wear signs that just say, "I'm Stupid". That way you wouldn't rely on them, would you? You wouldn't ask them anything. It would be like, "Excuse me...oops, never mind. I didn't see your sign."

It's like before my wife and I moved. Our house was full of boxes and there was a U-Haul truck in our driveway. My friend comes over and says "Hey, you moving?" "Nope. We just pack our stuff up once or twice a week to see how many boxes it takes. Here's your sign."

A couple of months ago I went fishing with a buddy of mine, we pulled his boat into the dock, I lifted up this big 'ol stringer of bass and this idiot on the dock goes, "Hey, y'all catch all them fish?" "Nope -Talked 'em into giving up. Here's your sign."

I was watching one of those animal shows on the Discovery Channel. There was a guy inventing a shark bite suit. And there's only one way to test it. "Alright Jimmy, you got that shark suit on, it looks good... They want you to jump into this pool of sharks, and you tell us if it hurts when they bite you." "Well, all right, but hold my sign. I don't wanna lose it."

Last time I had a flat tire, I pulled my truck into one of those side-of-the-road gas stations. The attendant walks out, looks at my truck, looks at me, and I SWEAR he said, "Tire go flat?" I couldn't resist. said, "Nope. I was driving around and those other three just swelled right up on me. Here's your sign."

We were trying to sell our car about a year ago. A guy came over to the house and drove the car around for about 45 minutes. We get back to the house, he gets out of the car, reaches down and grabs the exhaust pipe, then says, "Darn that's hot!" See? If he'd been wearing his sign, I could have stopped him.

I learned to drive an 18 wheeler in my days of adventure. Wouldn't ya know I misjudged the height of a bridge. The truck got stuck and I couldn't get it out no matter how I tried. I radioed in for help and eventually a local cop shows up to take the report. He went through his basic questioning..ok..no problem. I thought sure he was clear of needing a sign...until he asked "So..is your truck stuck?" I couldn't help myself! I looked at him, looked back at the rig and then back to him and said "no I'm delivering' a bridge... here's your sign."

Enjoy your weekend and watch out for those signs!
