Dilemma, dilemma...

What to do? What to do? I've been wondering for the last few days, maybe weeks, if I should use this blog as a journal or simply as a place where I post jokes and little stories. This thought was brought back forward following a comment I received on one of my post - my thoughts, my experience could be shared for more than jokes. I've posted a few things that were more "personal" or at least that weren't jokes as such. This blog was primarily to post my "Friday Smiles", and other jokes... nothing too serious. I thought I was contributing to the increase of traffic by sending e-mails, mostly jokes, so I decided to have people come here to fetch their jokes...

I can see that I lost a LOT of "followers" in doing that. People preferred to receive e-mails than to log on to the internet... and I can't say if people are reading my blog. I get the occasional comment (thanks Jason!) from other visitors after I've posted a comment on their blog, but do they come back to see what else I've written, I don't know!

I used to visit a blog where the girl was pissed off that nobody ever posted any comment on her blog - I now understand her. In a way it's weird, because when I would send my jokes, people didn't write back (except the occasional few), and I was ok with it... weird...

This doesn't really solve my dilemma, but still... I think I'll keep on posting. Sometimes jokes, other times more serious stuff and eventually (I hope) "visitors" will be more incline to comment. It's strange that I'll see friends who will tell me that they read my blog, etc., and they have comments but the didn't post them!!! The button is right there, bottom right, look!
If you don't have an identity on Blogger you can use the other 2 options (other or anonymous), but please click on the comment link!

I know what you mean. I have a friend who started a blog over a year ago and she said it takes time to build a reader base.

At one point, you'll be surprised how many followers you've accumulated, even if they never bother to comment.

I write my own blog primarily for myself, and if others read and enjoy it, tant mieux!

I read your blog daily, and am thinking about starting my own. You and Jasonhave inspired me. I enjoy your entries, and please don't stop. I think the variety is good, because I never know what to expect. I also think you were very brave to share your experiences with depression, I don't know if I could......

I know what you mean too. It's funny though. I started my blog (well, really both my blogs) just for me, just to have an easily accessible place to put my thoughts. It was not long though before I was leaving comments on other people's blogs, and they were finding their way over to mine. Now, more and more, I feel that I am writing to an audience rather than for myself. I haven't decided if that's a good thing, a bad thing or just different.

jason67: Keep on writing, for whatever reason you do, I've been doing it for years and will continue on, blogging or not!

suzie: thanks! I've been wanting you to write for a while now (remember the journal I gave you?). I have MANY more experiences I could share - imagine just about the "mother-in-law"!? Keep on reading, I'll keep on posting!

neuroticillinfan: The first comment I ever left was on one of your blogs, which I still read. I think that when you know that people read you, you might "censored" yourself a little - you're more "aware".

Thank you all for using the comment button! It's appreciated and drop by as often as you'd like. ...'cause I like it! :-D

I'm glad that you've taken your blog beyond the jokes, etc. I'm enjoying learning more about you. When we meet and socialize through karate, we seem to know little about the person outside the dojo. Don't get discouraged about the lack of comments. I'm sure that there are a lot of "lurkers" out there, who read but don't make comments!
