I got gently tagged by Robert (a.k.a. "Nascar") at “Observations from the Back 40” to do an interesting meme. How can I resist this Redneck?!
The rules are quite straight forward: list 5 to 10 courses you would take to improve your life. One of those should be taken with the friend who tagged you. Then tag 5 others....
- I would love to go for a professional cooking class. I do cook a lot already and I managed fairly well in the kitchen, but what I know is self-taught. I would love to learn how to “play” with a knife the way the Chef’s do and to be able to create dishes from scratch…
- I would love to go for a driving class of big vehicle, like the 18 wheelers. That would be the class I would take from (or with) Robert, he’s been a driver from many years, so why not! Always was intrigued by those big boys.
- I would love to take a Hungarian class and be able to speak fluently and practise on a regular basis. I’ve taken Japanese for a few years but because I have nobody to practise with, I’ve lost it all.
- I would love to take a writing class, to write better and to "capture" my readers, and not read as someone who’s French writing in English.
- I would love to take a designing class. Designing as Debbie Travis or those people on “Trading Spaces” who come up with great ideas, not too expensive and it looks great.
I’ll just do five, but there are so many classes I would love to take, like medicine, vet school, web design to name a few. I know that it’s never too late to do so, but let’s face it, I’m lazy and comfortable at the moment, so…
I will not be tagging anyone, but if you’d like to take this and run with it, be my guest!

I have to say you don't read as someone who's French writing in English. In fact I didn't realise English is your second language until you pointed it out! Very occasionally you may spell a word wrong or phrase something slightly differently to what we would. But to be honest I've come across heaps of bloggers who do speak English as their first language and don't write it anywhere near as well as you.a
Well, I would go with you to most of those classes, but not the 18-wheelers. I'd be scared to death!
I'd love to be able to chop like the pros and also would love to learn how to make beautiful AND tasty desserts.
yum.
As for the French-writing-english thing, I know english people that can't write anywhere near as well as you do. I also wouldn't have guessed that English wasn't your first language.
Big vehicle driving sounds fun! Imagine how cool it would be to drive a monster truck!
I've always wanted to operate heavy machinery, like the kind you're supposed to avoid after taking certain medicines. And I agree with everyone else. If you hadn't copped to not being a native speaker of English, I never would have known.
atta girl have a go with an 18 wheeler..once you get used to it they are fun to drive....:)
So which one will you follow through on? I am also a bit lazy when it comes to doing things like this. But if pressed, I'd probably take a creative writing class (to force me to write more). And maybe Spanish. Since I moved to Florida, I've been wanting to do that. I even downloaded some Spanish lessons to my iPod. Listened to it some, but then changed to music or audiobooks. Down here, the Spanish would help...I took French is high school, but don't get to use it much (and was pretty poor at pronunciation)...
hasarder: Thank you! I still remember the first comment I ever left on your blog was about languages... :-)
lizgwiz: It'd be less scary than sitting on the side of the highway with them zooming by! ;-)
paisley: I love to bake, and I will learn to chop like that, I'll keep at it!
pigeon: Thanks, but you haven't heard me speak! Hee!
And yes, big trucks = potential fun!
marius: Thanks but YOU (of all people) should stay away from heavy duty machinery, or is that tools? ;-)
nascar: The guy installing our cabinet just told me his mom, at 50+ went for that class and is on her way to LA! There's hope for me! ;-)
nicotine: Mostly the cooking one and the Hungarian, since the husband speaks it... I did 3 years of Spanish, and thought it was easy, very similar to French. In FL you "almost" need Spanish, so go for it, it's easy and you'll have plenty of occasion to practise!
