Food Surrender Part 3, 4 & 5

As I wrote Thursday, I had received 3 notices, so this afternoon we made our way to the post office to pick up those three parcels. I think I mght have been more excited to see who they were from than what they contained, but once home I had to open them!

While Hubby was assembling the console we had ordered last week, for the dinning room, I opened my boxes.

The first one was from Princess Slea.

I opened hers first because she had mentioned that she had put some frozen pack inside of it, hoping it would get here in one piece. I was happily surprised when I saw the postcard and nice card showing their town square and even more so when I saw the fudge! I love fudge, no matter what colour (for future reference. Hee. )! I quickly put it in the fridge, and thanked my good fortune for not having a sweet loving husband!

I will let you know how much I enjoyed both the fudge and the chocolates.

Then I opened Marius' box. Check this out, Twinkies! I've never had Twinkies before! I've heard of them in many TV shows, and movies, but this will be my first taste ever! Could this be the beginning of the end for me? Maybe it's a good thing we don't have those here!

When I saw that bottle of Key Lime Juice I thought this must have been his wife's contribution (right, Marius?). There's a recipe on the bottle, so I will have to make one of my favorite "Key Lime Pie" with actual Key Lime Juice! Yay! When I do make the pie, I'll post about it (my way of sharing it with you guys).

And finally I opened Periwinkle's box. I don't think that using tortilla chips as packing material was such a great idea... let's just say we won't be able to use them for dip, but I'll mangle something for a casserole recipe or something like that.

Check this out; she sent everything to make tacos (except the meat, of course)! We don’t really have good Mexican food in Montreal, so this is just great! Looking at these post cards from Arizona reaffirms my wanting to go explore that part of the States. Hubby spotted the hot sauce. That he will taste for sure!

This is so much fun! This is like Christmas in August! Thank you so much (Princess, Marius and Periwinkle) for participating in this trade and for your generosity. Blogging is bringing me more than just an escape or a place to vent, it’s bringing me to discover new things, new taste sensation and especially new friends!

Wow, never had a Twinkie huh? So cool you finally get to indulge. I haven't had one in years.

periwinkle: They fitted alright! ;-) I will enjoy for sure! It was nice of you to play along and watch your mail, you should be getting your package soon!

noble pig: We don't have Twinkies up here... But we have plenty of other things to compensate!

I'm glad you are pleased with my poor offerings, and I'm embarrassed that it never occurred to me to send a passle of postcards. Maybe next time. As for the Twinkies, I have been a Twinkie addict since childhood. I remember saving up fifty cents and riding my bike the two miles or so to the nearest 7-11 to buy a two pack of Twinkies. Of course, as with so many other things, today's Twinkies are a pale shadow of their former greatness, but they are still yummy. :-)

Oh, and yes, the key lime juice was my wife's idea. :-)

How in the WORLD is it possible that you have never had a twinkie? Does that mean you've never had a ho-ho or a ding dong either? (get your mind outta the gutter, those are snack cakes!) ;)
