Life continues...

I’m feeling generally better except when comes time to eat. I think I’ll be off red meat for a while, to my carnivorous husband despair.

The simple thought of meat makes my mouth waters but not in the “yum, good food heading this way”, but rather the “oh no! I think we’re ‘gonna be sick!” way. I like used to like a nice steak for dinner, and rarely enjoyed one at restaurant, because what we cooked at home was always delicious. When we go out to eat I’ll try to pick something I don’t do at home.

Monday night we went out with friends who have been taking us out for the last nine years for our wedding anniversary. They were our best man and matron of honour and to this day they make a point about our wedding anniversary. They are boat people, i.e. they basically disappear as soon as they can put their sail boat in, which is about early May and we don’t really see them until the end of their season, which is about now. Our anniversary was in August, but they took us out on Monday. It was originally scheduled for the previous Monday but I was sick in bed.

We went to a place called “Steak Frites”. It’s close to home and it’s BYOB (Bring Your Own Booze), which is always a good thing, since drinking good wine in restaurant is expensive. We walked there, despite the rain. We had never been to that restaurant. Their menu is all about steaks. Darn! I thought they might have other options, and they did, but I’m not a big fan of duck. So I took the only other option: salmon. I must say I never had salmon and fries before, an interesting combination. We had a nice dinner, walked back to our place and by the time we made it home, I wasn’t feeling too hot. My stomach isn’t 100% yet.

Tonight, I’ll be making some pork loins stuffed with apples and some quinoa. I sure hope that’s not too much for my fragile stomach…

Tomorrow I’ll be helping my jewellery-making friend sell her goods. She rented a table at a local hospital during a conference on breast-feeding. She’s hoping the ladies attending will buy some of her stuff. She asked me to help her, she thinks I'm a good sales person. I sure hope so for her. I’ve been “coaching” her since she came here, to be better organized, on time, have her stuff priced, etc. Let’s see how that goes. The only grain of sand in this plan is the fact that I have to be there for 6:45 am – argh! I’m so not a morning person…

I have to be at work at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow but I don't feel so bad about it now! ;)

Ooooh i know the nasty feeling of not being able to face the same food again. I remember eating fresh ravioli before being violently sick with a virus, and the thought of those ravioli still makes me feel slightly queasy.

Lots of tea in the morning!! its a life saver at such early hours!

Yeah, no more fondue for me. Maybe you should try eating saltines and 7-Up for a few days? ;-)

Hey Stinky, years ago I encountered food poisoning, and experienced prolonged side effects, much like you're going through now. I finally, stubbornly went to the doctor and he prescribed a course of antibiotics...within a day or so, I felt better. Now that's not to say you shouldn't take the entire prescription like your told :-)....perhaps you should consider this, it been too many days now with no relief in sight, I'd be more than concerned. Yikes !!! xoxox

I am glad you are on the mend! Being sick really stinks!

I am sure your friend will appreciate you being there whether she sells anything or not. Company is good and I do hope she does well and they buy up her jewelry! :)

Glad you're feeling better. And yes, it takes a LONG time to be able to eat something again when it once made you sick. Or drink something, for that matter. I've neve been able to drink Jaegermeister again...not since that fateful night in 1988. Hee.

Oh, yeah, I will never be able to eat a fish sandwich with cheese again.

Hope you feel better, your friend sells lots of stuff and you don't get too tired!

GEM: I feel for you, having to be at work so early. Really.

Pigeon: Mmmm, tea! I've been enjoying my "Yorkshire Tea". ;-)

Barb: I've been eating lots of saltine lately, and flat 7-Up.

SIT: Thank you!

Kara: My other white meat was actually very good last night.

Mousse: Thanks for this insight, I'll keep that in mind. But I have been getting better, at least I think so... :-/

Periwinkle: She only sold 4 pieces, wasn't a buying crowd, but still better than none!

lizgwiz: That's what happens when we abuse a good thing, right? ;-)

greenduckies: Didn't seel much and it was a long day. But, I'm feeling better!

I could swear I left a comment on this post, so either I'm nutz or Google lost it.

Quite simply, I'm happy to hear you're feeling a bit better, but I can understand your reluctance to eat meat again for a while. As sick as your were, I would be leery too.

Charlie: I'm still not over it, and by the way, I did not delete your comment, maybe Blogger ate it?! ;-)
