Christmas also, really? Argh... or Yay?!

As I’m trying to twist my mind around the fact that not only winter is coming but also Christmas, I also feel time passing me by. I don’t know if I should write that I used to love Christmas or if I still do. It’s a strange feeling. I really don’t know how I feel about it anymore.

Hubby has been talking about going away for the Holidays in order to avoid any family issues. Last year’s planning was nightmarish to say the least. Neither one of us wish to renew the experience. So, we might simply escape to a sunny place.

Dealing with the prospect of snow is another thing eating at it. The older I get the less I enjoy freezing my arse off. I’m starting to better understand the “snow birds”, the best of both worlds, not a bad option after all. Since SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) tends to grab me this time of year, we’ve been looking in some “happy” light. Maybe this gizmo will help me fight the blues? Let’s hope so, ‘cause those things (the good ones) aren’t cheap!

Getting back to Christmas, I just love giving (and receiving as well, let’s be honest here). Just yesterday while doing errands I got a little something for a blend, just because it made me think of her, so… I feel like doing a gift exchange, would you be willing?

Would love to, but I'm not sure I can just yet. Can I get back to you in November?

what is this gift exchange you speak of?

My dad is going to Bali this year and my sis lives up North in Karratha which sadly enough makes Xmas organisation 'easier' I am still trying to get Beloved to take us to visit his ma in New South Wales for Xmas but flights are very $$ in Oz :(

Monkey: Of course, suggestions will be made.

Pigeon: Cheap will be our theme, or rather "inexpensive"

kara: Oh come on!

Marius: Of course!

grumpy: I'm thinking something like a Secret Santa - I'll get every names together, random assignation and each person sends a little something to the person that was assigned to them and you get one as well. Hadn't realised you were in OZ, nice!

I don't like seeing Christmas stuff up before Halloween. I'm sick of it already. I may boycott it this year and not buy a single item. I think I said that last year too. Probably because we were broke. I don't know why people just can't be nice to each other all year long and they have to get into the "spirit of the season" to smile and be nice. I don't get it.

Bah humbug! Sorry to be a downer.

GEM: I agree with you on too much of it, and yet... I also agree on the giving part, that I do year-round as well, but to me Christmas is a special time of year where I like to give a little more. You're not a downer, that's the way you feel and that's fine.

I love gift exchanges! And themes!

My mom has SAD and she got one of those light thingies. I think it's been helpful for her. Of course, it also helped that she moved to Arizona from Minnesota.

Christmas, unfortunately, is not Christmas anymore; it's the retail "Holidays."

Giving, however, is the spirit of Christmas, so count me in.

And I think you and hubby taking a trip is a great idea--wish I could because of in-law problems . . .

It's October! I don't want to think about Christmas!

But if you want a warm sunny Christmas for once, you can always come over here and visit me!
