Will you look at this, I've gone over the 50,000 visitors!

I can hardly believe this, 50,000, wow! Can I get a woot or two, please! Thank you, thank you very much! Somehow it doesn't seem real, and yet my counter is proof. To some it may not be that much, but to me it is. Thank you!

In other news I feel like I could use a good venting session. I received a little letter by mail. I opened it and it was I little card from a real estate agent informing me of his services. We've been getting a lot of these types of letters. Real life spammers, if you ask me. This one though bothered me a little. Let me tell you why.

I've been going to the same hair salon for the last ten years or so. I go there at least every four weeks and a little more in the summer, since my beautician is also at that location. I started going there because a friend of mine became my hairdresser and even though we've moved from the Waste Island to downtown, I still make my way there. A husband and wife combo runs the business. They occupy the ground floor of this huge house; the top floor is the hair salon and the basement is the beauty salon. I'd say it's a family business to some extent: the sister of the owner works the reception, the husband and wife are both hairdressers and at times their son replace (his aunt) at reception.

The letter I got was from their son. He’s now a real estate agent. That’s all fine and dandy, but how in heck did he get my address? Could it be at the salon? I wasn’t too happy about that (but not as displease as my FGH was). I don’t think it was proper business etiquette to share my personal information like that.

I wrote a short email (which FGH reviewed and basically re-wrote) and sent it to the wife. It basically said I didn’t appreciate my personal information being share without my knowledge or permission. She wasn’t too happy about that. I understand her being happy for her son in his new career and wanting to encourage him, but I think, she could have asked if I was ok with it.

Saturday I had to go to there and FGH went in to get some products and he felt the welcome wasn’t as warm as usual. Oh well. Yet another person we’ve pissed off because of our beliefs or opinions. Won’t be the last I’m sure.

that's actually a privacy issue. or rather, it is in america. i don't know about your crazy country.

the mom needs to understand the difference between having her son's cards at the reception desk and actively soliciting. and if she doesn't...then you should send her a coupon for whatever it is you do for a living.

My girlfriend in college was the daughter of a real estate agent. One Halloween we helped her mom make up little candy bags for the trick or treaters. Each little paper bag had a cartoon ghost or ghoul on it, and we put a candy bar, lollipop, and other small goodies inside. Then we got ready to go to our own festivities. As we were departing we noticed that 'mom' had stapled her business card to each bag and was instructing the five year old vampires and witches to be sure to give it to their mommys and daddys. *facepalm*

And congrats on 50K!! :-)
