I'm sure if you were a little girl in the 70's you'll remember some of these.
You had that Fisher Price Doctor's Kit with a stethoscope that actually worked.
You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a plastic basket with flowers on it.
(and streamers on the handles! My bike was midnight blue with metal flakes. It was sooo cool!)
(and streamers on the handles! My bike was midnight blue with metal flakes. It was sooo cool!)
You learned to skate with actual skates (not roller blades) that had metal wheels.
(and let's not forget the key that came with them to adjust the lenght, remember those?)

You thought Gopher from Love Boat was cute (admit it!)
You had nightmares after watching Fantasy Island.
You had either a 'bowl cut' or 'pixie', not to mention the 'Dorothy Hamill'.
People sometimes thought you were a boy.
You owned a 'Slip-n-Slide', on which you injured yourself on a sprinkler head more than once.
You owned 'Klick-Klacks' and smacked yourself in the face more than once!
(and let's not forget the bruises on the forearm!)
(and let's not forget the bruises on the forearm!)
Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession.
(didn't have a sleeping bag, but had lots of other things!)
You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers.
You spent hours in your backyard on your metal swing set with the trapeze.
The swing set tipped over at least once.
You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Oleson!
You wanted your first kiss to be at a roller rink! ---- yes it was!
(and "Funkytown" was playing!!)
(and "Funkytown" was playing!!)
Your hairstyle was described as having 'wings' or 'feathers' and you kept it 'pretty' with the comb you kept in your back pocket.
When you walked, the 'wings' flapped up and down, looked like you were gonna 'take off' .

You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazzard was your boyfriend.
(Bo was "it" for me!)
(Bo was "it" for me!)
You often asked your Magic-8 ball the question: 'Who will I marry. Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or David Cassidy?'
You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and Popsicle-stick God's eyes, decoupage, or those weird potholders made on a plastic loom.
You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable tape player up to the speaker.
(This is how I learned English, recording songs and trying to write the lyrics and then translating them to French to "understand" them!)
You thought Olivia Newton John's song 'Physical' was about aerobics. (I'ts not??)

How about you? Did any of these bring back memories?

So that's where my Dr Scholls disappeared to ...... can I have them back please?
[Actually, I wore them out - the leather broke after many years use - I hate to see a grown man cry - tee hee]
I don't know about Gopher, but Julie could be my cruise director any time. And wasn't that the goal of the swingset...to get at least one of the feet to leave the ground with every swing?
;-)
I can do you one better. My soundtracks of Saturday Night Fever and Fame were on 8-track!!!!! And I totally wore them out. :-D
Well, my bike was purple--WAY COOL--and I prefered Han Solo to Luke Skywalker and Parker Stevenson to Shaun Cassidy, but...oh yeah. Those are some memories. ;)
OMG! You were one of the cool girls! LOL. You forgot Happy Days was cool and the fonz was the coolest.
daddy p: I remember using mine a lot, I wore off the wood part!
marius: You're right, that was the point of that swing! I couldn't help to smile when I read your comment.
m red: Wow! you're old!
lizgwiz: I'm hear you for Parker Stevenson!
c'est moi: I don't know about being cool, but there was nothing nor noone coller than the Fonz! I still watch it in the morning, those were Happy Days!
I so need to do a boy perspective of this . . .
But I agree with Marius - Julie could fluff my cabin pillows anytime.
My other recurring memory of that era is leaving CCD (Catholic Sunday school not on Sundays) on Tuesday evenings and getting home in time to (if you were lucky) catch the last few minutes of Happy Days and then Laverne and Shirley
Wow! This brought back so many memories. I certainly had the fashions of the day, including the hairdo with wings and my brown velvet gauchos. Oh yeah, I was one hot nerd in high school.
i had a satin jacket with shaun cassidy's picture airbrushed on the back. man, i wish i still had that!
for me it wasn't holly hobbie, it was all strawberry shortcake. i had all those little dolls and a giant scented strawberry that had pockets for each doll to fit in. i wish i had that back too.
as much as i'm a han solo girl now, i must admit that my ten year old self "hearted" luke skywalker
brave a: You should do the boy version - you must have something in your archive! ;-)
trueself: Who wasn't a nerd in the 70's... really?!
princess: I think I remember that big strawberry... and I grew to become a Hans Solo girl, but back then, Luke was "it"!
