“Four things you should know about me before you invite me to your house.”
- Despite what you may think I am shy. I tend to be quiet in crowds and I’ll stick around people I do know. Once I feel comfortable enough I mingle and do the social thing, but at first, I tend to melt with the wallpaper… So don’t be surprise if I’m not really as you thought I might be.
- I will bring you a little gift, to thank you for the invitation. I like doing that. Chances are it will be something I’ve made, like jam, jelly, salsa or even a dessert. And a bottle of wine, of course, if Hubby is with me!
- I don’t really drink alcohol. I’m a real water drinker. I know, boring. Doesn’t mean I can’t have fun! I will get up and dance, I will sing along if needed, but I’m sober while doing it, that’s all! Yes I’ll be the designated driver and the one who does remember what truly happened… yep, that’s me. So make sure you’ll have water and cold soft drinks for me, please.
- I cannot sit there and watch you do all the work, so I will offer to help. I won’t insist, but I will ask. If you say no I’ll respect that. I’ve been known, at the end of a meal, to pick up and start cleaning. I help where I can and where it’s welcome. You might even notice that I won’t go through your cupboards to put stuff away. I hate it when people do that, so I’ll either ask you where it goes or I’ll leave everything on the counter. I respect people’s privacy, even in the kitchen!
