Remember, Wear your poppy with pride.

November 11th is not just a date nor is it just a holiday. It is a day to reflect, think and appreciate those who have defended our freedoms over the years.

The pipes are playing for us and our allies, God bless all those who fight to protect our rights, our freedoms, and our blessings, we have so much to be grateful for. Even with all the mess our country is in, it's still the

Greatest place on earth!

I'm an 'Ol' Sailor' and I don't give a damn what anybody thinks about this,

But the theme of this post is correct: In the final analysis, we're all in this together,

Yanks, Brits, Canucks.

May God Bless us all.

The pipes, the pipes are playing for ours as well as our allies.

Thinking of all the Canadian, American & British Soldiers

What gets me is that people give me funny looks if I tell them I'm a "veteran". Apparently, veterans are supposed to be old and still wearing their uniforms to the local chapter meeting.

Turns out, I'm young and I served and I'm proud of it! :)

Cheers!

pppaws: I guess we tend to think of "veterans" as older people, not a young vibrant, hot kittie!

Good for you for serving and THANK YOU!

I just belatedly realised something.

You left us out.

Australians take Rememberance Day very seriously. Walking through town first thing in the morning I overheard people mentioning it three times within an hour.

Many of our 'diggers' (as we call veterans) fought and died in the fields of Flanders, France, and on the shores of Galipolli, Turkey amongst other places. There is barely a town in Australia without a memorial with the names of all the boys who went. Few came back, and those that did were considered heroes for the rest of their lives.

Although we have ANZAC Day to remember all veterans, November 11 still holds a special place in our hearts.
