Don’t you think it’s strange how sometimes things just seem to align themselves perfectly? I’m always in awe of that when it happens. I guess it’s true it is a choice we make to see (or not) miracles. I’m not saying I’ve witness a miracle, far from it, but the universe is giving me signs. At least, that is how I’m seeing it.
I love to write, but when I do so I tend to write simply. I’d love to do it more elaborately, but somehow it’s just not how I do it. I’ve been wondering where I’m going in regards to this blog. I love my blog and even more the people I’ve met (and still will) through it. It brought me pleasure in reading comments, and I think I’ve made friends along the way as well. I tried joining different sites to increase my traffic and lately I’ve been wondering if it was worth it. I’m not doing it for money, I don’t get paid per post; I do it because I enjoy putting my thoughts down on “screen”. When I read Kim’s post about what makes a good blog (according to him, of course) I thought interesting the timing of his post. Then I read Meg’s about being an impostor. I feel like that at times, since I write for my pleasure. I’m selfish. I assume it.
I think my blog is easily readable. I’m lazy (I also assume that) so when I see a very long post with no breaks (paragraphs) I tend to click away. I’ve stopped visiting some blogs because of that (I know, it’s bad). It was or at least looked like too much, for me at the time.
I think there’s a “story” to my posts. I might give too many details at times, granted. I share my views and I know I vent a little too much, but I’m not constantly moaning, right? Right!
Joking aside, I thought it was strange as I’m questioning myself about my writing ability or lack thereof, and two bloggers would post about what makes a good blog and not being a “real” writer/journalist.
In other news, I received a nice award from someone I do think is a great writer, the Flurrious one, herself. Can you believe she went through the trouble of creating personalized awards for those of us who did ask? I just love mine.
I cracked up when I saw it. I think it’s funny how her award follows my last posts about being bilingual since it is all because of this man that we are a bilingual country. 'Telling you, the stars were aligned!

Congratulations on that award! lol People blog for different reasons. Some people don't care about the number of hits they get. As long as you're having fun, blog away!
Congratulations on the award! You're my kind of blend!
Hope you have a great weekend!
Hugs!!
I agree with Barb—again. To me, it isn't the number of "hits" I get, but rather that the people who read me are friends (blends). I don't use a site meter because I don't care.
Just as long as you keep blogging for fun, Stinky, I'll keep readin' you.
And congrats on the award.
Congratulations!
I think you're a great writer - not only are you clear (things like paragraph breaks matter to me too lol) but you write in a way that's friendly and personal; I think that's what makes 'blendship' so easy with you, because we can really sense you through the page.
I love reading your thoughts and musings, and couldn't care less about journalistic anything. I don't come here to get the news, I come here to get your news. I have a very low boredom threshold, and have given up on more blogs than I can count, but I always get a little thrill when I see in my feed that you've posted a new, um, post. ;-)
You definitely shouldn't change the way you write to bring in more readers. I've stopped reading a few blogs that I used to love because once they began aggressively going after popularity (or, in a couple of cases, ad revenue), they stopped being interesting; instead, they were trying to shape their posts to what they thought a broad audience would like.
I think everyone should just write about what they want in the way they want, particularly if they want to write about meerkats, and if it doesn't result in Dooce-like stats, then so be it. Popular blogs aren't necessarily better; some of my favorite bloggers have relatively few readers. Of course, there are some terrible blogs with only a few readers too, but I am going to ignore that fact.
i totally agree about not being interested when the blogs are too long. we need to hoard our precious free minutes so that we can spend them doing important things like eating chocolate while watching E.
I like the way you write your blogs. I've always been a fan of reading conversational writing, the kind where it feels you're in the same room. Congratulations on the award! It's funny that we were all thinking along the same lines.
Congratulations.
I tend to skip posts with HUGE paragraphs too...maybe it is the sign of my short attention span...
Charlie always has a way of saying what I want to say, but better!!!!
When I first started reading your post I was afraid you were going to say you were taking a break and I was thinking how much I would miss you. I don't always comment but I come around and you are one of my favorite blends and sounding boards not to mention those shoulders of yours that I often cry on are very strong! :-)
Why do I visit your blog and keep coming back? Because I love your blog sweetie, and you. I'm not a great writer, I don't have a hit counter it's of no interest to me, I like to read the comments and to reply to them. Simple pleasures for a simple mind ;0)
I love your award it's great.
Barb: Thank you! I sure do have fun.
GEM: Ditto!
Charlie: I love my blends, and I'm happy to count you as one of them. Thank you.
Cinn: Thank you, it means a lot.
Marius: Thanks.
flurrious: I won't add any ad or such, no worries - I hate the noise they generate. Thanks again for my lovely award!
Kara: Mmm chocolate! Thanks!
Meg: I guess I attracted the type of readers that's good for me! ;-)
morethan: Thanks!
Grail: No worries, I'm not going anywhere, and I'll be there for you whenever you'll need me.
St Jude: Thank you!
I like your writing style. You amuse me and entertain me and educate me. And, as we all know, it is all about me (hee!).
As you know I have been struggling with my blog as well. With your help and from others, I decided to blog again. Not for the hits, the shop visits, or for anything else, but to share a bit of me with people like you in my life. I am thankful for the friendships I have made along the way and, to me, that is what matters.
I love you Josee! You are my kind of blend! Hugs!
Newbie here. How is that you could be inside my head, typing my thoughts and we just met?? Well I just met you that is... I get you totally. I'll be back to get to know you better. Congratz on your special award.
[customized, too woot-woot...nice]
I agree you should have fun writing. It's cheap therapy, better than TV and gets you outta the house...sort of---you know what I mean. It's nice to meet you, sista. =]
greenduckies: Happy to bring you something! ;-)
Periwinkle: Just for meeting people like you was worth this blogging experience alone!
Lille Diane: Welcome to my world! Hope to see you here again!
