I’ve been thinking about this one for a while and to this day I’m still not sure of what I want to be when I’ll grow up.
I’ve thought of being a librarian. As a kid I would go to the library almost every day. I would devour books. I loved the smell of a library and of books. I also enjoyed the quietness you find in such place. I still enjoy reading (books I buy now) but I don’t go to the library anymore…
I’ve thought of being a cop. I applied to college with that in mind. Then my father got robbed and stab at the store by a teen and it affected me. I then thought of studying to become a criminologist, but during one of my first course the teacher mentioned that we were there to help criminals to come back to society, and that is when I realised I wanted to put them away more than help them, so I dropped out of everything and started to work.
In 1993, for some strange reason, I had a brain fart and applied for the RCMP. I went for all their tests, physical, psychological, written, etc. and it looked like it might happen but then I blew an interview when I told an old agent off. He pushed his luck and I knew/know it was most likely part of their selection tactics, but I didn’t stand for it. Funny thing though, a year or so later a bunch of women filed a complaint against some of the RCMP recruiting officers as being prejudiced against women. Oh well.
In 1999, after our layoff, I used one of the service provided in order to get another job, and did a bunch of tests to determine my strenghts, weaknesses, etc. Interestingly enough my "choiced" fields would be: police office, military or chef. There's something very martial about me, and I guess my karate training filled up that 'need' of mine...
Looking back, I never knew exactly what I wanted to do, but I’ve always known what I wouldn’t do or put up with. I don’t regret any jobs have held and I’ve done my share of “interesting” jobs!

So today, if you could be anything you'd like to be- what would that be?
I particularly like that you know what you would not put up with. Do you know you are one in a million. Not many people can say that. How long have you been practicing the art of karate?
Monkey: Today, retired!!
TechnoBabe: I didn't know it was so rare for people to know what they would or not put up with. I've been a karateka for over twenty years...
